We will be driving to Sycamore Canyon near Cottonwood for a fun day of hiking and cooling off in the swimming hole At Parsons Trail.
Parsons Trail is pretty popular, especially in summer, because of a large deep swimming hole about a 1/4 mile past Summers Spring.
At the trail head the trail drops down a steep little hill, then it’s pretty smooth sailing’ from there. One mile up you will be at Summers Spring. This is a really neat spot as there are a few little channels of water fed by the springs. Look carefully and you can see where the water is coming up.
Meet up: at Summit 4X4 Company at 402 E Sheldon St, Prescott, AZ 86301 at 8:00 AM. We will be leaving promptly at 8:30 AM..
Directions: 16 miles West of Sedona is the town of Cottonwood. Take 89A North to Main Street, continue North through Historic ‘Oldtown Cottonwood’ towards the town of Clarkdale to the turnoff to Tuzigoot National Monument. Turn north across the Verde River, then left on FR 131. It’s about 11 miles to the trailhead.
