JEEP GLADIATOR

BUILT BY SUMMIT 4X4 COMPANY

THE Build

This build was one we had a lot of fun with in the 4 days we had it here at the shop. The customer came to us wanting a reliable daily driver that he could still use as a truck in addition to a rock solid overlander for remote wilderness exploration and camping. We got straight to work, recommending a handful of products we felt would make all the difference, without compromising driveability.

First things first, we threw a set of 37” Nitto Recon Grapplers and Method Race Wheels on the truck and it instantly changed the look. In order to compensate for the added tire size, a JKS J-Krawl lift kit on it which not only gave the vehicle extra height, but also improved articulation. Especially in conjunction with the Fox 3.0 Race Series shocks we installed. For those who haven’t experienced the difference a tuned shock can make, we encourage you to find a friend or stop by the shop and see for yourself. In an attempt to maintain that OEM feel and driveability, we also installed an RPM 2.5 Ton steering kit on the vehicle.

Regarding armor, this customer elected to install an ARB bumper which housed perfectly the 10,000lb Warn Zeon winch and Nacho LED fog lights. To complete his front end recovery setup, we paired the winch with a Factor55 Flatlink for a safer and more secure winch line connection. Rockslide Engineering side steps, which second as rock sliders, will aid in getting in and out of the vehicle, especially now given the added ride height. Artec full-belly skids protect the Jeep’s vital components from impacts against rocks or debris when out exploring, and we think they add some flair to the underside.

To accommodate his need to have this Jeep second as an overland rig, we installed an RCI bedrack which works perfectly in conjunction with his tonneau cover. This combination will ensure that this customers gear stays dry and dust free when out on the road less traveled. A FreeSpirit Recreation tent sits atop the bedrack and with its simple deployment and ample interior space, is just what this customer needed for those weekend warrior trips.

When exploring, it’s incredibly convenient to have an on-board means of airing up. For that reason, we installed an ARB High-Performance Twin On-board Air Compressor. To assist in airing up both sides of the vehicle, we opted to run air chucks to either side, which will make airing up each side of the vehicle a breeze. To operate the compressor in addition to future accessories, we also installed a SwitchPro switch panel. Within an arms reach, this customer will have access to all of his electronic accessories, whether he chooses to add more lights, a WeBoost, or the like.

All-in-all, this vehicle turned out to be a pretty awesome build. The best of both worlds when it comes to challenging terrain and the comforts of home while out in Arizona’s backcountry. If you’re interested in kitting out your Jeep for adventure travel, give us a call or stop by one of our shops and let’s get the process started!
