If you are looking for a scenic, laid-back trail with just enough challenges to keep things interesting, Rancho Diamante is a great one to check out. Tucked between Skull Valley and Williamson Valley, this trail is ideal for all experience levels. The best part? Every obstacle along the way is completely optional, making it a perfect route to run with a mixed group of seasoned off-roaders and first-timers.
We started the morning like we always do, meeting at the shop for some coffee, snacks, and a quick drivers’ meeting. Then we split into two groups and met back up just before the trailhead off Iron Springs Road to air down and get everyone ready to roll. I drove my personal JLUR Jeep, and JP came along to shoot photos and document the day.
Victor led the front group, Laurie held things steady in the middle, and Tim brought up the rear to make sure no one got left behind. It was a smooth run that took us about five to six hours to complete, weaving through the backcountry with plenty of spots to stop and enjoy the views.
We had a great turnout—mostly Jeeps, with a Bronco and a Land Cruiser thrown into the mix. It was a good blend of club members, returning customers, and a few folks hitting the trail for their very first time. The vibe was relaxed, and the trail gave everyone a chance to get a feel for their rig without pushing anything too hard.
Even though this trail is not a challenge for the more experienced drivers, it is runs like these that remind us why we build these vehicles the way we do. It is about more than just the obstacles. It is the people, the community, and the experience of being outside together.
If you have been thinking about joining one of our Summit 4X4 Club monthly runs, do it. You do not need to have a crazy build or years of experience. You just need a rig, a good attitude, and a love for the trail. We would love to have you out there with us.
