There is something about Parker that always pulls you in. The open desert. The tight, technical canyons, the river. The endless horizon of rock-filled playgrounds that test both driver and machine. Desert Splash is one of those events that has become a tradition for many seasoned wheelers, and this year, our crew was ready to get after it. No booths. No camping setups. No big production. Just pure rock crawling with good friends and a couple of late nights under the stars.

We rolled out of the shop on Friday evening after work. The sun was setting, casting that warm Arizona glow across the road, and the rigs looked right at home against the desert sky’s colors. It was the perfect start to a weekend that had one goal. Wheel hard and have fun.

Our crew was tight. Jesse, Jayden, Alyssa, and JP in one group. Uriel and Tatum, and their family, in another. A smaller team than some of our big runs, but a good-sized crew for real rock crawling. We also ran into our buddy John from Parker 4 Wheelers at the dinner party Saturday night, which is always a bonus.

Everyone split off to get settled for the night. Some stayed at La Paz County Park with the other attendees while we checked into the Hampton Inn. Dinner, a little time around the fire with Uriel and Tatum, and then off to bed. Saturday was going to be a full day.

Saturday. Trails, tight squeezes, and the kind of fun that leaves you tired and smiling

We woke up early and made our way to the trails. There is something about Parker terrain that hits different. It is rough without being punishing. Technical without being impossible. A true test of skill and patience. Not long into the run, one of the guys with us broke his XJ on one of the early obstacles. Off-roading with us has rules, and one of the most important is this. Nobody gets left behind.

We helped get the XJ off the trail safely, made sure everyone was good, and then continued on with only two Jeeps. Even with the smaller group, the energy stayed high. The day was lined with off-camber ledges, deep pockets of loose rock, and narrow turns that make you slow down and think about every inch of your line.

One turn in particular had all eyes on Jesse’s JL. There was a tight squeeze with a real possibility of breaking his third window on the passenger side. You could feel everyone holding their breath as he inched his way through. A little back and forth. A little winching, a lot of spotting. A whole lot of patience. Inch by inch, that JL slid through without a scratch. One of those moments that reminds you why we love this kind of wheeling. It is about precision, teamwork, and the rush that comes when you make it through something sketchy in one piece.

We kept wheeling for hours. No hurry. No distractions. Just rocks, rigs, and the kind of fun that makes time disappear. And of course, no Parker trip is complete without a stop at the Desert Bar. It is impossible not to smile when you pull up there, dusty and hungry, surrounded by nothing but plain desert, a cool bar, and good vibes.

Food, fire, and that classic Parker feeling

Most of our meals were at Uriel and Tatum’s camp. Good food always tastes better when it is outside and surrounded by friends. We also enjoyed the Desert Splash closure party hosted by the Parker 4 Wheelers. Great food, raffle prizes, and a fun-filled atmosphere. If you know Parker, you also know that a late-night trip to Ruperto’s is basically a requirement. The kind of place you go when you need something hot and satisfying at the end of a long day. It was not until Sunday morning that we headed to Ruperto’s since it waswithin  walking distance from the hotel.

Friday and Saturday nights both ended the same way. A fire, a circle of friends, and stories being passed around until the yawns took over. Not too late. Just enough time to unwind and enjoy the company. These parts of the trip are always harder to describe, but they are often the best parts. The moments between big obstacles and big climbs. Real conversations. Real connection. Real community.

The emotional highlights

There were a few standouts on this trip, but nothing topped watching Jayden experience his first real rock crawling run. Parker is not exactly an easy introduction, but he handled it like a champ. These are the memories that stick. The moments that shape future drivers and remind us why we put so much effort into keeping this lifestyle alive.

Another highlight was seeing what the JL was capable of throughout the weekend. Jesse has always been willing to push his rig farther than most would, and Parker gave us some unforgettable lines. There is something special about watching a build you know inside and out crawl its way through obstacles that would make most people turn around.

The brands that make it possible

When you are wheeling terrain like Parker, your setup matters. We leaned on the same gear we trust every day in the shop and on our own rigs. RPM Steering, Warn winches, Factor 55, MetalCloak, Artec, Rock Jock, Motobilt, KC Hilites, and Treadready Beadlocks wrapped in Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires. We run what we trust, and we trust what we run. Simple as that.

The drive home. Quiet, relaxed, and one last reminder of what matters

Sunday came with that familiar mix of satisfaction and fatigue. The kind of tired you feel in your hands and shoulders after a full weekend of crawling. We loaded up and headed toward Prescott. Made a quick stop in Salome and Aguila for snacks and cold drinks, then kept rolling north.

Pulling back into the shop always feels like closing a chapter. You park the rigs, step out into the familiar Prescott air, and you know you had a good weekend when you already miss the dust.

Final thoughts

Parker is not for beginners, but if you have time behind the wheel and want to push yourself a little, we cannot recommend it enough. The terrain is challenging. The community is welcoming. And the memories last.

Most importantly, we want our people to see that Summit is part of this lifestyle too. We are not just building rigs. We are out there using them, testing them, and living the same adventures as the people who walk through our doors. We show up for each other. We take care of each other. Leave no man behind is not just a saying for us. It is how we operate on every single trip.

Desert Splash was a great reminder of why we do what we do. Good people. Good trails. Good stories. Exactly what an off-road weekend should be.
