JEEP WRANGLER JLU

BUILT BY SUMMIT 4X4 COMPANY

THE Build

A rig that is the pinnacle of what we do here at Summit 4x4 Company is Jesse’s, Summit 4x4 Company’s CEO/Founder, 2018 Jeep JLU Rubicon. This rig has gone through a dramatic transformation since it rolled through the shop doors earlier this year. After experiencing some axle damage, Jesse made the decision to build the rig of his dreams, and that’s just what we did.

Featuring F250 Super Duty axles for improved strength in addition to Artec trusses, this Jeep Jesse was determined to put 42” tires on. With a little inginuity, a hack saw, and some careful planning, we were able to fit the 42” Nitto’s without running into any clearance issues. Motobilt fender liners were installed to protect the inner fender wells which paired nicely with the Trail Ready beadlock wheels.

5.38 Revolution gears equipped with ARB pneumatic lockers provide similar functionality to a factory Rubicon while also improving low end torque. A PSC hydraulic assist steering ram was necessary in order to turn these behemouth tires which paired with RPM steering linkage, provides similar steering response to factory.

Jesse elected to have the Evo long arm kit installed, which dramatically improved articulation. With the added flexibility of the long arm kit working in tandem with Currie’s Anti-Rock systems, this JLU is built for hardcore wheeling without the compromise of on-road driveability.

Speaking of hardcore wheeling, this JLU received a fresh set of body armor, courtesy of Motobilt. Motobilt rock sliders, front and rear bumpers, alongside Artec skids will ensure this rig stays looking fresh. Within the front Motobilt Tomahawk bumper lives a Warn 10k winch fitted with Factor55 recovery gear. Motobilt's high-line fenders add a nice finishing touch and perfectly frame the massive Nitto Trail Grapplers.

Fox 3.0 Race Series shocks keep this rig firmly planted on the ground and a miriad of KC Hilites LED lighting ensures Jesse can see down the trail and at camp with ease. As for the inside, a Rugged Radio GMRS base station alongside 67 Designs device mounts make mapping and communicating within a group a breeze.

All-in-all, this build is one that will evolve over time as Jesse figures out what works best for him and his off-road needs. In it’s current configuration, it’s certain to bring some smiles and tackle anything you point it towards. Swing by the shop (420 Miller Valley Rd) to see it in person, you might just leave with an idea or two for your own rig.
